Travel Insurance for Foreigners Entering Argentina

Buenos Aires, July 2025 –
Foreign nationals planning to enter Argentina for tourism, business, or temporary residence are strongly advised to obtain valid travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and hospital care within the country.

While Argentina does not currently require travel insurance for short-term tourist entry in all cases, many visa applicants — including rentistas, students, digital nomads, and retirees — must present valid insurance as part of their immigration process.

 Insurance policies should include:

  • Medical coverage in Argentina
  • Emergency care and hospitalization
  • Valid for the entire intended stay
  • Certificate in English or Spanish

Immigration authorities increasingly expect travelers to show proof of insurance, especially in visa or residency procedures. Additionally, having adequate coverage protects visitors from unexpected medical expenses and helps avoid complications with migration status extensions or renewals.

Foreigners already in Argentina on a tourist stay are also encouraged to obtain proper insurance before applying for residency or temporary visas.
