Are you a citizen of China or the Dominican Republic planning a trip to Argentina? There’s good news: Argentina now allows entry without an Argentine visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE) — if you already hold a valid visa for the United States.
This new measure simplifies the entry process and can save travelers both time and money.
Who Qualifies for Visa-Free Entry to Argentina?
You can now travel to Argentina for tourism or business without a visa if:
- You are a citizen of China or the Dominican Republic.
- You have a valid U.S. visa in your passport.
- Your trip will last 30 days or less
You no longer need to apply for:
- An Argentine visa, or
- An Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE).
Extensions may be possible under regular immigration procedures.
This new policy does not grant residency rights or change the rules for staying longer than 30 days. For long-term stays, work, or relocation, you still need the appropriate visa or permit.
Legal and Practical Implications
- Legal Basis: Argentina formalized this change through Resolution 316/2025, reflecting a flexible and pragmatic approach toward immigration for select travelers
- Duration and Conditions: Qualified travelers can enter Argentina for tourism or business for up to 30 days, with the possibility of extension under existing immigration rules.
- Reciprocity: This policy complements reciprocal visa waivers—China has already extended visa-free access to Argentines, balancing diplomatic and tourism dynamics
